He has trained in the martial arts since the age of 10 and has toured nationally and internationally since 1985. He has appeared on many local, regional and international television and radio shows. He has been in national and international publications demonstrating his much sought after knowledge of joint manipulation, the use of Korean style weapons and hyung (body motion). West Point Appointment

In July of 1991 Major Tim Challans of the United States Military Academy of West Point asked Grandmaster Suh, In Hyuk for an instructor to come to New York and conduct the martial art classes for the cadets.

Master Sims was appointed Master Instructor for the Martial Art Program at the United States Military Academy at West Point by Grandmaster Suh, In Hyuk. Master Sims carried his staff from Alabama which consisted of Sa Bum Nim Lisa Morgan, and Master Cheryl Cherowitz.

With West Point being a Military Based School, Master Sims emphasis was to bring all aspects of real fighting to the cadets through the

martial art Kuk Sool. One of Master Sims’ goals was to create divisions in college martial arts competition that simulates close quarter combat by including grappling techniques such as takedowns, throws and sweeps. Master Sims wanted to prepare the cadets to be real warriors. No matter what their future position with the Army would be, as soldiers, there is always the possibility they will have to meet and do battle with an enemy in close combat. Having a good kick or punch is not all that is required to be a good fighter. Master Sims taught the cadets that you must train to think well, faster, and more efficiently and to train the total body and not just certain parts. If you can’t control it you can’t develop it.

While teaching the cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point, Master Sims and his staff opened three Kuk Sool Schools as well. The locations of these schools were Mahopac, Briarcliff Manor, and Elmsford.

In 1992 Master Sims hosted the first of 8 open tournaments held at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Master Marlin Sims has been providing programs for men, women and children of all ages for over 35 years. The programs include Women’s Self-Defense, Health and Fitness, Adult Traditional Martial Arts, Children’s Martial Art, Child Safety, Martial Art for the Executive, Ki Training (breath control and internal energy building), Concentration-Meditation, Kicking – Hand Training workshops and Defensive Tactics for Law Enforcement.

The core of these workshops is the “Total Body Training” program which includes various types of resistance training (using one’s own body weight, rubber bands designed to strengthen and stabilize the joints and also weight training). This type of training is specifically designed to enhance the students’ martial art ability, static and dynamic balance, agility, flexibility, range of movement, and joint stability. This training strengthens the shoulder girdle, arms, hands and wrists, also the pelvic girdle, legs, ankles and feet. Body posture, core strength and mobility are strongly emphasized in this training.

These programs have been developed for and used by some of America’s top corporations and colleges. Master Sims’ motto “Total Body Training through the Martial Art” maintains his mission while at the same time encourages his clients to invest in total fitness and wellness.

Master Sims has trained thousands of students in the martial arts including several that are high ranking, including the first non-Asian female Master in the art of Kuk Sool (Cheryl Cherowitz- 5th degree Black Belt). Master Sims is a highly motivated martial art professional who brings martial art training and fitness back to its barest element. “Total Body Training through the Martial Art” is devoid of distraction, gimmicks and hype. He teaches movement with meaning, with students learning the most realistic and effective physical techniques for self-defense and total fitness. It is intense training with positive results.

Some of Master Sims clients include: United States Military Academy at West Point, Readers Digest World Headquarters, Phillip Morris, General Foods, IBM, Delta, and Pepsi, as well as professionals in the field of medicine, finance, advertising and law enforcement.
